MOT fail: wiper does not clear the windscreen
Major defect: the vehicle fails
Windscreen wiper does not clear the windscreen effectivelyDVSA wording, MOT inspection manual item 3.4 (b) (ii)
A wiper left smears or missed patches in front of the driver. A worn, split or lifting blade is the usual cause, and blades take minutes to change, so this is often put right during the test.
Can it be driven away? Only if its current MOT is still valid and no dangerous problem was listed, and it must still be roadworthy. GOV.UK rule
